As was mentioned before, MBC broadcast "Feel Good Day" on June 30th in which they interviewed Girls' Generation and talked about their popularity and their Japanese tour. During the program, "Feel Good Day" also broadcast video from Girls' Generation's trainee days, as well as footage of their auditions and even some of the vintage MBC show "Manwon Happiness" when Yoona was a participant. Another part of the June 30th "Feel Good Day" broadcast included a few members from fellow SM Entertainment group Super Junior. Heechul, Leeteuk, and Shindong dressed up as Lady Gaga and Beyonce for performances during the "SMTOWN Live in Paris" concert. Before Heechul went up on stage, he said, "I'm prettier than Girls' Generation," while standing next to the girls. A third part talks about the girls' diet and eating habits. During the program, Sunny said, "People think that we're on diets and only eat a little bit, but we eat so much that it surprises our managers. We're eating regularly and getting enough rest, so you don't have to worry about us." Yoona similarly stated, "We're really doing a good job eating regularly. I don't know where people got the idea that 'Girls' Generation members are on diets'. We're eating well and we're strong." Yuri also said, "The diet that was revealed a while ago was not true. I make sure to eat three meals a day and I enjoy exercising." The "Girls' Generation diet" that the three members are referring to is the one that was revealed at the beginning of this year on SBS's Lunar Near Year Special "What Are Stars Doing?" In it, they stated that Girls' Generation's diet consisted of seasonal greens, five broccoli heads, 100 grams of chicken breast, and 150 grams of brown rice, among other things, to form a 1,500 kilocalorie diet. [2011.07.01] Sooyoung's Last Display of Impressions on 'Come to Play'
It's not unexpected that Sooyoung's weird aegyo is sometimes cringeworthy. Because of this, Sooyoung revealed on her recent appearence with Yuri, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon on MBC's "Come to Play" that SM Entertainment has ordered her not to display her vocal impressions anymore for fear of ruining her image during the "SMTOWN X-Files Corner". However, MC Kim Wonhee requested Sooyoung to perform her imitations one more time, and before obliging, Sooyoung apologized to the President of SM Entertainment. Using the voice of Go Hyun Jung, she then complained about how she could not do impressions of anybody anymore, which can be seen above. [2011.06.28] Sports Hankook's Interview with Birthday Girl Seohyun
"Let's be together until Grandma Generation" First solo interview during school days... "It's fresh" "Starring in a Japanese drama" Topping various charts since announcing it "SeoㆍChinㆍSo, introducing Seohyun's friend, Sports Hankook." Girls' Generation's youngest member, Seohyun. She has a one-of-a-kind relationship with Sports Hankook. June 28th is her birthday as well as the anniversary of Sports Hankook's first published paper. It was Sports Hankook that delivered livid news about Girls' Generation's activities; from their debut in August 2007, to them meeting fans beyond Asia. Sports Hankook was also the first place she had a solo interview with. Seohyun was just a high school student when she confidently revealed, "I want to star in a Japanese drama". She is now a college student and has been leading the K-Pop wave with her group members by taking over music charts in Japan after 4 years. It seems like it is only a matter of time before Seohyun's previously out of reach dream of starring in a Japanese drama comes true. One June day, where the rain was chasing summer to begin, Seohyun met with Sports Hankook to celebrate each other's birthdays. Seohyun looked at the records Sports Hankook had of her and Girls' Generation since their debut and couldn't hide her smile. It was as if we were meeting as long-time friends, and were able to quickly fall into our past. A smiling Seohyun stated, "Let's continue on together until 'Girls' Generation' becomes 'Grandma Generation'." ▲First, happy birthday. =Thank you. Happy birthday to Sports Hankook too. ▲Were you aware of your unique relationship with Sports Hankook? =When I heard about it not long ago I was surprised. I knew there was a reason why you always write only good articles. Haha. ▲How did you feel? =I felt like it must be fate. I will keep reading for sure. Am I too serious? Haha. ▲From Girls' Generation's debut till now we've gathered all the articles. We want to give it to you as a birthday present. =Wow! This is the first time I'm seeing them in paper. (After looking at the articles without talking for awhile) After viewing articles on the internet and seeing them on paper, it feels different. You're really giving this to me? It is a present I can't forget. I will have to show it to unnies. ▲It feels like it was only yesterday when you gave your first individual interview after debut. =That's right. At that time I really didn't know anything. I didn't know what to say and I didn't know what content was going to come out in the article. ▲(Pointing at the article) Seeing your debut self how does it feel? Is there anything embarrassing or anything you would like to hide? =Not in the least. My hair bangs looked fresh. Looking at the old me is a really pleasant feeling. ▲At that time of the interview you said you would like to participate in a Japanese drama. =I still have that dream. At that time I was really into "Nodame Cantabile" and lately I am watching a drama called "Hotaru's Light". It would be so nice if the day I participate in a Japanese drama comes. ▲At that time there were no plans for Japanese activities. If you look at the articles it's like you predicted your Japanese advancement. =Haha. It appears so. My dreams have become a reality. If I have a goal and work hard towards it, it feels like the people around me are giving support. In the name Girls' Generation there are dreams inside it. The dream of making the world a girl's generation has not changed. Until Girls' Generation becomes Grandma Generation please be with us. ▲The time you most remember. =I remember when we stood on stage for our first performance and we all cried for the longest time. Our period as trainees was so long, we went through hardships together and now we finally showed ourselves to the world. I think I will never forget it. It's amazing to see old interviews and they remind me to never forget my beginnings. Without knowing it people change little by little. I am most fearful of that. I will always make the effort to never change who I am. ▲Not too long ago your performance in Paris was a big topic. Can you feel the Hallyu fever? =Yes, of course. Because of the steady effort of my sunbaes I think Hallyu is getting this much attention today. I don't think it's something we suddenly made. I think it's luck we are able to be active right now. A sense of responsibility is developed. We will pave a road so that there will be others who will promote overseas. ▲Personally which work do you remember the most? =I did a duet with Joo Hyunmi sunbaenim. She is someone my parents like. Doing a duet with her was something I could never think of and I was so nervous. Because she warmly held my hand I was barely able to finish the performance. Thinking about it now I'm really thankful. ▲Were there hardships debuting at a young age? =It's hard when people pay attention to even the little things you do. You become careful of every action and every word. Now I've become used to it and I've learned to be very thankful for even the smallest of attention. ▲It's Sports Hankook's 7th anniversary. If there is anything you would like to say. =Whenever I meet Sports Hankook reporters I'm always glad. They are hard working and shall I say trustworthy? I ask to keep good articles in the future. Also always good news about Girls' Generation? I offer my greetings. Please keep watching over us. The show was filled with entertaining and hilarious moments; the guests singing, dancing, sharing stories, doing imitations and showcasing their talents. Sooyoung shared a funny story about her management giving her strict orders to not perform her screeching Go Hyun-Jung imitation in fear of her ruining her image, explaining her situation and even giving one last demonstration, making the audience erupt into laughter. French pronunciation of Korean names was also brought to light, the Girls' Generation members saying that they had laughed hearing "Hyoyeon-ah" being pronounced as "Yonyeon-ah (a derogatory name)" while "Sooyoung" had been pronounced as "Sooyeom (beard)". Hyoyeon's popularity in Europe was also a topic of discussion, other members stating that she had received the loudest cheers during the concert in Paris. To this, Hyoyeon stated "The response I got was really amazing. I replied to the fans with long words of thanks. I think that they really enjoyed my dance performance." The program also featured touching moments; f(x) member Sulli tearing up when talking about Girls' Generation members Taeyeon and Tiffany. Sulli spoke about moving to Seoul when she was younger, becoming close to Taeyeon and Tiffany who lived in the same dormitory and took care of her like a younger sister and became her source of support. She expressed how sad and lonely she had felt when they had debuted and become busy, and how grateful she was to be able to see them after also debuting, saying a sincere "thank you". In reply, Tiffany expressed that she felt she should take care of her dongsaengs, while wiping Sulli's tears. There were many tears shed as the SM Town members shared their past experiences as trainees. Nippon TV's popular information show "ZIP!" recently reported on the "I want to be like Girls' Generation" fever that is currently spreading throughout the country of Japan. It was broadcast in the morning of the program's June 22nd episode. The show featured different people who have been influenced by the 9 members, including an elementary school student who proudly said "I want to be Girls' Generation's 10th member". Japanese female fans of different age groups gave interesting and similar comments like "I'm on a diet to become like Girls' Generation", "I want to be like Girls' Generation" and even pointed out that "They are perfect in dancing, singing and everything else." An elementary school girl, in particular, caught the attention of many when she said "I want to be a singer like Girls' Generation" and proceeded to spend millions of yen to convert one of the rooms in her house into a dance room. A dance academy that focuses on learning Girls' Generation's choreography also attested to the girls' growing popularity. [06.24.11] Is Girls' Generation the New 'Frequent Flyer' Queen?
What exactly is the flight mileage accumulated by Girls' Generation? Mnet's "WIDE Entertainment News" recently analyzed Girls' Generation's hectic schedules and looked further into their flight mileage and travel times. The girls are often seen at the airport as they move between countries in Asia and even beyond the continent. The members had to travel to France for international activities, joining the SMTown family to perform for the "SMTown Live in Paris" concerts. Prior to their activities in 2011, the girls were already accustomed to the frequent flying as they made appearances in Japan, Taiwan and other countries for concerts and special events. They skillfully navigated around the world amidst their tight schedules and without complaints. It was also revealed that the members of Girls' Generation have traveled out of the country in the period between June 8th to 18th alone. Using the distance of 456km from Seoul to Busan as a gauge, this equates to the girls traveling back and forth for up to 25 times, making their total distance traveled an approximate 25,086km. Their busy schedules have been quoted as remarkable considering the number of times the girls have traveled so far. At the rate they are going, it would be of no surprise if they catch up to Rain's record of a staggering 670,000km throughout his 8-year career. Also, Lipton will be running a "Dream Factory Campaign" contest, in which 30,000 randomly drawn winners will receive Girls' Generation prizes. 1,000 of the winners will receive portable speaker, 2,000 winners will receive Lipton x Girls' Generation t-shirts, and 27,000 winners will receive a cell phone strap which plays "MR. TAXI". In order to participate in the contest, the ID code number must be copied down from a sticker on the back of Lipton Tea cartons and then entered into Lipton's website (Editor's Note: All Lipton Tea cartons in Japan have the sticker with the ID code on it, and not just the 500 limited edition Girls' Generation cartons mentioned above). The contest ends on August 12 at 5pm.
