SNSD are enchanted!? The start of the new E-ma Nodome CM

Mikakutou held the launch of the new E-ma Nodome (throat candy) CM in Tokyo. The K-pop idol group SNSD, who acted in the new CM, attended the launch, which was followed by a talk show afterwards; the CM will be aired nation-wide starting February 26th (today).

In this CM, SNSD is gathered around a big European-style dining table and are enchanted by the E-ma throat candy that comes down from above while every member stays still, and the camera films them. It was filmed with an analogue stop motion technique.

About the CM appearance, Taeyeon revealed, "When I first heard about us appearing in the CM, I thought it was a big honor. We are singers, and because of our job, where we often use our throat, I think candy that is good for your throat is very meaningful."

This is their first CM shooting in Japan. "The set was pretty and we could shoot with a good mood," said Yoona. "This was the first time we shot one scene for so long! We couldn't blink, and we couldn't move our hands, but it was really fun," said Hyoyeon, who was very satisfied. About the CM set, Tiffany confessed, "There were fish placed on the table. At first, I thought they put them there to scare us (laughs);" she further reflected,"but the set was just like the world in the fairytale 'Alice in Wonderland'. It was very pretty.'' When we asked what Jessica does to protect her throat she answered, "I drink warmed lemonade." Taeyeon, who heard an original cosmetic technique, revealed, "I use a collagen face lotion or mist (spray); I apply it often when I come to Japan or when I'm in Korea.''

At the end, Sooyoung promoted, "The SNSD members filmed this CM pleasantly, so please anticipate it. Eat a lot of E-ma Nodome."

Posted Image

Continuing the Hallyu craze that girl groups created last year, a Korean producer will start his Hallyu activities.

PJ (real name: Park Soojong), who produced 'Marshmallow' and 'Baby', participated in producing Japanese girl group AKB48's album, which was released on December 8. After finding that out, people are having high expectations of the first Hallyu producer.

AKB48's 'Team-A' single album, which PJ participated in producing, was ranked first in the Oricon monthly chart and sold over 700,000 albums.

People are saying that PJ's entrance into the Japanese market is the first step in letting people know of Korea's excellent music. He is currently absorbed in producing for the albums of SNSD (their first Japanese album) and Nakashima Mika.

[02.23.11] "SNSD's Luxurious Skin is... All Thanks To Soaking Our Bodies"

Posted Image

Has there ever been a make-up model that became such a hot topic? This is about the 6 SNSD members (excluding Taeyeon, Seohyun, and Yoona) that became the new spring models for Dior. Before the official announcement from Dior, there were many discussions amongst netizens for and against this on forums and on Twitter saying, "Do designer brands fit SNSD?", and, "Why can't idols do it?" There were also comments reading, "With all their samchon fans, would SNSD be able to target people in their own age group?" This was an aftershock for becoming a model for a well-known, foreign make-up brand, which had previously been modeled by the best actresses of the time.

We met the girls at a recent photoshoot. Unlike others responses, the actual girls seemed to be taking it well. "Isn't a model bettering the product's image all they should do?" (Hyoyeon) "Just because we become the model, doesn't mean we're telling our fans to buy it. There's no reason for a samchon fan to buy women's make-up just because of us." (Sunny) It seemed like the atmosphere was becoming heavy, but Jessica made a comment. "Oh my, people were saying that? Did you guys know about it? Did you?" Everyone burst out laughing at that moment. We got to listen to them talk about beauty and fashion.

"We risk our lives to use the bathroom first"

With their debut in Japan last year, SNSD's schedule has become busier than ever. 'Beauty tactics' to sleep well and get less stress don't work for them. Instead, drinking lots of water is a must. Each member drinks about 15 1L bottles of water a day. "It may sound like something out of a textbook, but water is the best. It helps your skin and balances your body." (Sooyoung)

Tiffany, who said she puts the most effort in skincare, revealed her 'beauty secret'. Even when they go to the hair salon early at the break of dawn, she always puts on sunscreen and doesn't just go to sleep no matter how late they get home. She is not satisfied with putting on skin, essence, eye cream, and moisture cream, and finishes it off with a sleeping pack (a moisture pack one can go to sleep in right after applying). When asked if she isn't going overboard since she is young and her skin should be fine, Yuri gave a sullen answer. "We're under such strong lights for a long time, it's a lot easier for our skin to get damaged compared to others in our age group."

Bathing one's lower body is the best beauty habit all the members suggest. This is because loosening muscles in the shoulders and legs that are knotted from a days work prevents pimples. And, they never forget to wash their faces with cold water at the end. "There are times where we would have to leave right after getting washed up because of early schedules the next day. So the members put their lives on winning at paper-scissors-rock to use the bathroom at night." (Sunny)

SNSD Diet Menu, Never Even Did It Before

All the members waved their hands at a question asking about the truth behind the recently revealed 'SNSD diet menu'. This is about 'having a daily 1500kcal restriction by eating chicken breast, brown rice, and vegetables'. Tiffany said, "Maybe if it was 1500kcal per meal. We eat like we're a mobile convenience store even in our dressing rooms." One thing they do before an album jacket shoot or award ceremony is 'last-minute dieting'. Not eating after 6 PM for about a week or 10 days before the event is effective.

They also said there is no special secret behind the 'fantastic legs' title that follows their group name. "I think we're just born with it. There were a lot of times where we went on stage with swollen legs. But there is a bit of exaggeration. Because we put Sooyoung, who has the longest, prettiest legs in the middle, the rest of our legs look good." (Yuri) "That's right. If you want to look pretty, you have to continue to study yourself. From the position of your legs, to the angle of your face, you have to learn and practice what's best for you." (Hyoyeon)

Best Fashionista is Sooyoung

Colorful skinny jeans, baseball jumpers, striped t-shirts... SNSD became 'style icons' for the fashion they popularize with every single they release. However, their everyday attire is similar to their peers. They usually wear black skinny jeans, or leggings under a knit or hoodie. "We're a bit sloppy today. We're usually not this bad..." Yuri usually wears black and white, or other neutral colored clothes and uses accesories to add onto her outfit, giving off a 'cha-do-nyuh' (cold city girl) style. Tiffany usually wears knitted one pieces that show off her body. "After entering my 20s, I don't like wearing showy clothes. I prefer wearing ordinary clothes and putting more attention on bags, hats, and other accessories." (Tiffany)

When asked which member is the real 'fashionista' in the group, they all chose Sooyoung. Because whether they go to eat or watch a movie, she wears a completed outfit. The members made compliments like, 'it's like a shot from a pictorial when anything is thrown on a model-like body', and also exposing remarks such as, 'she buys 1 piece of clothing every minute' and, 'you practically live in the mall'. "It's because I share all my clothes, shoes, and purses with my mom and sister..." A flustered Sooyoung tried to make an awkward justification. Then they were asked which member is the most indifferent when it comes to dressing up. Before the question was over, all their eyes moved towards Sunny.

[02.21.11] "I Just Wanna Wish"; SNSD's "Tell Me Your Wish" Draft Version Revealed

Recently, an MP3 of SNSD's track "I Just Wanna Wish" has recently surfaced on the net, sending fans into a frenzy. While the title may sound unfamiliar, it is in fact a song very well known to SNSD fans.

"I Just Wanna Wish" is a draft version of SNSD's hit 2009 song "Tell Me Your Wish (Sowoneul Malhaebwa)" that was recorded and used for the girls' practice sessions – however the song was quickly revised shortly before its release and "I Just Wanna Wish" became the "Tell Me Your Wish" we all know and love today.

While most of the song remains the same, the lyrics in the chorus of the draft version are different from those of the final version, with a more mature and sensual style. Another major difference between the two versions of the song is the bridge, that starts about two and half minutes into the song, right before Tiffany's iconic "DJ, put it back on". The bridge incorporates more harmonization and highlights Jessica's clear and sultry voice through her ad-libs; it also retains the repetitive beat similar to those often used in "Tell Me Your Wish" remixes.

Have a listen for yourself and see if you can spot the differences;

If the draft version sounds familiar to you, "I Just Wanna Wish" first surfaced over almost two years ago in an SNSD dance practice UCC video that was uploaded onto the internet around the time of "Tell Me Your Wish" promotions.

Girls' Generation films their first CM in Japan; "We want to do a nation-wide Japan tour this year"

The 9 member Korean girl group, Girls' Generation, appeared at "UHA Mikakutou e-ma throat candy(cough drop)" new CM launch event held in Tokyo on the 21st. They have appeared in their music video CMs aired in the past, but this time, it will be their first CM recorded in Japan. Leader Taeyeon commented with a smile, "I feel really honored and it will be a good experience for us." Yuri boldly spoke of their aspirations for this year, "I'm the happiest when standing on stage together with everybody. We seriously want to do a nation-wide Japan tour this year. We also want to meet our fans from all over the world."

In the new CM, "Girls' Dinner," the 9 members were dressed in European style clothing and it is as if the camera is moving within a picture and pressed ahead taking an one-shot while each of the members posed standing still. They also took a challenge in speaking Japanese for the narration. Looking back at the filming, Yoona said with satisfaction, "Being surrounded with a pretty set, we were able to film feeling really good." Despite the rigorous conditions that comes with filming standing still for a long period of time, "the one-shot was our first experience and we couldn't move our hands or blink, but it was fun," (Hyoyeon) and the new experience felt fresh.

Sooyoung, who had a change of heart since her first visit to Japan, said with a big smile, "At first I was a little worried, but all the fans are caring and now I've gotten used to it and now it has become fun. I look forward to meals in Japan and I ate soba (Japanse buckwheat noodles), Japanese beef, and toro (fatty tuna) sushi with the members yesterday." Because of their extremely busy schedule in Japan, they don't often have off days, Seohyun wished, "We all have gone to Disney Sea on an off day we had and it was a fun time. I want to try going to an onsen (hot spring) next."

Girls' Generation new CM, "Girls' Dinner," will start airing nation-wide from Feburary 26th.

E-Tribe said "Girls' Generation, after recording a mega hit with 'Gee,' succeeded again with 'Tell me your wish,' which was a totally different style. Same goes for 'Hoot' that came out after 'Oh.' It shows how they have advanced and now they just seem to be showing so many possibilities that make people unable to expect their next style."

In addition, he said "Girls' Generation is the only idol group that can pull off many different styles and make the best out of the song ever since TVXQ,' adding that "face of thousands" suits them best.'

[02.11.11] SNSD Talk About Their Dior CF on Midnight TV

On February 10th Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Tiffany, Sunny, and Jessica, the six members of Girls' Generation who were recently signed on as models for Christian Dior cosmetics, made an appearance at SBS's Midnight TV Entertainment to talk about their new experience filming a Dior CF. While the segment was short, it was full of hilarious and cute moments.

The girls looked as radiant and cheery as ever, both in beauty and personality. As always, Hyoyeon threw in some unexpected phrases at the most perfectly awkward timing, making for huge laughs. Jessica seemed almost unable to hold her composure throughout the interview, while Sooyoung wittily commented that before joining Girls' Generation, she was the most beautiful girl she knew, to the delight of many.

One large focus of the interview was that while everyone got to act nice and pretty in the CF, Yuri transformed into mean girl (a beautiful mean girl, mind you). She yelled at a young man in the CF before throwing some sheets of paper unto the floor. Afterwards, Yuri's cello playing skills were revealed for all to see!

Finally, Tiffany and Sunny commented on their shockingly different make-up habits, and Tiffany revealed what other CF she'd like to film. All in all it's one of those short but sweet delights. It may be just a few minutes long, but it's so full of the girls being themselves that any SONE would be delighted to watch it.

Also, please make sure to give some hoots to our awesome SoshiSubbers who pushed this one out in less than 24 hours!

Girl group SNSD is continuing to hold records in Japan.

According to the Japan Record Association, SNSD's DVD 'New Beginning of Girls' Generation' is under the 'gold' list.

A record is deemed gold when it sells over 100,000 copies. This DVD record was released with SNSD's debut in Japan back in August, becoming gold in 6 months.

After their debut, they were able to gain 4 consecutive gold disks. Starting off with their debut Japanese single 'Genie', 'Gee', and the licensed version of 'Hoot' all sold over 100,000 copies, earning them the gold title.

Their single 'Genie', which was released on September 8th last year, recorded the greatest sales for a foreign female artist in Japan. This is also the first instance for a Korean girl group to rank as gold.

Following the release of their Japanese version of 'Run Devil Run', SNSD is planning on returning to activities in the said country with their third Japanese single.
