The remix of Girls’ Generation’s hit song “The Boys” featuring hip hop legend Snoop Dogg was recently played on the Boston radio station JAMN 94.5. The radio station is one of the biggest stations in the city and plays hip hop and hit music.

Clinton Sparks, who was one of the producers behind the remix, hosts a radio show on Saturdays from 6pm-9pm EST, and after the song was played, he said “That’s the track by Asia’s hottest girl group, Girls’ Generation featuring Snoop Dogg, produced by yours truly.”

The track is part of Girls’ Generation’s first worldwide release with the digital EP of “The Boys” that includes the original song and remixes by various producers and artists. The EP was released on December 20th, and can be purchased on iTunes.

Girls’ Generation started their US debut with the English version of “The Boys”, with lyrics co-written by Girls’ Generation’s own Tiffany. Following their takeover of Times Square at MTV studios after performing at Madison Square Garden for SM TOWN Live in New York, Girls’ Generation is making more and more progress in their US advancement.

Girls’ Generation Performs at NHK’s ‘Kouhaku’ and MBC’s ‘Gayo Daejejun’

Girls' Generation Performs at NHK's 'Kouhaku' and MBC's 'Gayo Daejejun'

gayo daejejun

It was a busy New Year’s Eve for Girls’ Generation as they had to record several performances for both MBC’s “Gayo Daejejun” and a live performance at NHK’s “Kouhaku Uta Gassen”.

At NHK’s “Kouhaku Uta Gassen” Girls’ Generation performed “Genie”, their debut Japanese single, as a part of the red team. The girls were dressed up in black and gold outfits that showed off their beautiful figure that really accentuated the dance moves in “Genie”. Prior to their performance, Sooyoung answered a quick question on how the girls were feeling about performing at “Kouhaku”, saying, “While we are also very nervous, at the same time all the members are very honored to be able to perform here. We’ll try our best so everyone can watch a wonderful performance.”

Thanks to the outstanding efforts from everyone in the red team, including Girls’ Generation, they were able to secure their first win in seven years.

Their performance at “Kouhaku” can be found in Soshified’s video download section.

Unfortunately, because of the tight scheduling, Girls’ Generation wasn’t able to perform live at MBC’s “Gayo Daejejun”. However, they pre-recorded “Diamond”, a song that they sang entirely in English for SMTown’s “Warmest Gift” album, and “The Boys”. This was the first time that “Diamond” has been performed on television by Girls’ Generation. It featured a simple dance choreography along with gold dresses that highlighted their beauty. For “The Boys”, they wore slightly different outfits fashioned out of a deep red color, which gave off a new vibe.

Both performances and the short interview can be found in Soshified’s video download section.

Girls' Generation Without High Heels Attracts Attention

Pictures of Girls’ Generation members without high-heels has became an issue online.

Recently, pictures titled, “Girls’ Generation civilian force, the importance of high-heels” were posted in an online community board.

In the revealed picture, it shows a performance that Girls’ Generation performed in the past at a baseball field with checkered shirts and roll-up jeans. In contrast with the recent girl groups with their dizzying high-heels, Girls’ Generation is drawing attention to their sneakers and showing the attractiveness of a “So-nyuh”, just like their group name.

People who saw this had varying comments, saying, “They are totally ‘So-nyuhs’ without their heels”,”Their proportions changed drastically”, “They’re petite and cute”, “The reason that the girl groups cannot let go of high-heels”.

Girls’ Generation is expected to end 2011 by performing on all three broadcasting stations’ year-end music programs with “The Boys” and “MR.TAXI”.

[Updated: gifts were given at Inkigayo, not the Christmas special]

Girls’ Generation members were hard at work on December 17th as they recorded performances for their “Christmas Fairy Tale” special.

Those in attendance of the recording exclaimed how pretty and amazing the stages were that Girls’ Generation prepared for the Christmas special. From a piano duet with Seohyun and Yuri to a stirring performance of “O Holy Night” by Taeyeon, Girls’ Generation’s “Christmas Fairy Tale” will be a special experience not to be missed. The special airs on MBC on the night of December 24th, just after midnight at 12:20am KST.

Later at the pre-recording for SBS “Inkigayo”, Girls’ Generation members gave a special treat to the fans who were in the audience. Girls’ Generation had hotpacks and hot drinks prepared for fans, and their managers handed the packages out. It’s been especially cold in Korea the last few days, so fans were touched by the the members’ thoughtfulness in making sure they were warm and taken care of. Despite their long schedule of recording and holding a fan meeting, Girls’ Generation continues to show their kind-hearted nature by thinking of their fans first.

Sunny has been gaining a reputation on “Invincible Youth 2″ as the smart and reliable member of G8. There were a lot of expectations for Sunny coming into the second season of “Invincible Youth”. She was the only returning member from the first season of the show, and so far in “Invincible Youth 2″, she has been showing exceptional leadership.

On the episode which aired on December 3rd, Sunny showed her expertise when G8 was discussing the items needed for the opening celebration of idol village. Other G8 members suggested expensive items like a flat-screen TV and a robot vacuum, but Sunny put a halt to the talk of those items, mentioning the direction of the program by saying, “We came here to work.” She also suggested they “get used goods” for necessary items such as the refrigerator.

Kim CP(Contents Provider) praised Sunny, saying, “Sunny is someone with intelligence as her basis”, and “She has a great adaptability for the program because she had experience during season one. She is especially saving the program’s concepts by letting the members get along well. There is a great reliance on her.”

Following Yoona and Sooyoung, Girls’ Generation’s Yuri will be making her attempt at acting in a drama. Yuri was offered the lead female role in an upcoming SBS drama “Fashion King”, and she is currently working on adjusting conditions to sign on for the drama.

A contract hasn’t been signed yet, but they are modifying terms accordingly with Girls’ Generation’s schedule and the drama’s filiming schedule. The agreement will be complete by the middle of this month and Yuri will participate in the filming.

“Fashion King” will be about a young man starting in the Dongdaemun market and succeeding in the fashion world. Yoo Ah-in, from “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and the film “Wandeuki”, is a possible candidate for the lead male role, while Shin Sekyung is also a possible candidate for a female role.

Yuri received many offers to star in dramas. However, despite all the calls, Yuri only appeared in music videos or sitcoms.

A member behind “Fashion King” stated, “I watched her crying in a music video. I don’t think we would run into any problems casting her on the set of a shoot. I felt she would be able to act in different roles, from a teen role to one in her twenties.”

On the new JTBC variety program, “Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys”, Girls’ Generation will be helping the “Dangerous Boys” and watch them mature and transform. They will be acting as mentors and will be providing the boys with personal advising sessions and training.

Seohyun, who is known as the “Girl Who Lives by the Rules”, lost her temper on the first day she met the “Dangerous Boys”.

Seohyun kept a stiff face when she was viewing the lives of the boys through a monitor. After the video clip, she showed her pity saying, “I think the boys are living without dreams or thoughts.”

Though she remained calm during the personal advising session during which the boys answered with careless words, Seohyun later surprised everyone when she exploded with anger by saying, “You shouldn’t live like this.”

Seohyun later showed her determination and said, “I’m upset that the boys seem to live without thinking about anything and without a dream,” and, “I want to find a dream for the boys.”

The first broadcast of “Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys” will air on December 18th.

During the show, the MC’s asked Taeyeon, “Don’t you want to be active as a soloist?” to which she replied, “No, I’m doing fine in a group thanks to all the other members.” Taeyeon also went on to say, “The other members help to cover up for the things I lack in. I think i’m more fit for group activities as compared to being a soloist.”

Photos We Love – Getting “Soshified”

Photos We Love – Getting "Soshified"

featued_image

At Soshified, we are fortunate to be surrounded by an infinite number of quality photos and pictures of Girls' Generation, which, our writers, are heavily dependent on to beautify their words. And so, we decided to write about different photos with different themes each month in a new feature, "Photos We Love", which kicks off with the theme, “Getting Soshified”. As the saying goes, "a picture says a thousand words". But we're here to say that any picture of the girls can be summed up in one cursory word – beautiful.

SeraphKY’s Photo:

The picture that started it all for me, which a friend of mine showed me. Originally, I had only listened to J-music, but I had always thought about listening to Korean music. And when I mentioned this to my friend, he showed me this picture along with the music video, which of course was “Gee”. Despite my initial reservations about such a cute song, it inevitably got stuck in my head, and I went around looking up everything that related to them. This happened around the summer of 2010.

michaelroni’s Photo:

I was a bit of a late arrival to the SONE fandom, and I started around the beginning of “Oh!” promotions. At first I didn’t pay too much attention, after having first been introduced to them, but this photo really caught my eye because of how colorful it was. I was intrigued, to say the least.

taengsoshi’s Photo:

I am a late SONE, and the first music video I have ever watched of our girls was “Gee”. I’ll admit I wasn’t too hooked on it when I saw it in April this year. It was one of my first KPop videos, and I thought “Gee” was too much on the cute side. Thankfully, I came across this picture and decided to give them another try. Something about their fierce maturity in this picture drew me in, and so I pulled up the “Run Devil Run” music video. Brimming with intense passion, their burning message was clear, or so that was how I made it out to be. One thing I will say is that “Run Devil Run” made it a much more easier transition from American to Korean music for me. Needless to say, I had a lot of catching up to do, and from then on, I craved to make up for lost time. The rest was history.

SethRyan’s Photo:

For the record, I had always been a fan. After all, who here among us didn't fall in love with the girls after watching them and their crab-leg dance in "Gee"? But being a fan and being "Soshified" are two very different things if you ask me. And that fine line for me is this photo. As seen, this is a fan cam of the girls rehearsing for a concert; they were dressed in their own slacks and looked slightly worn out and tired – a stark contrast to the Girls' Generation we know. This photo shows just how much alike the girls and us are; that they are, after all, human – something I found incredibly relatable. Aside from great music and amazing dances, Girls' Generation speaks to the geek or dork in us. All of us, through the magic of growing up, went through hard times when we weren't sure where or if we belonged or if there was anyone else who shared our plights. And that's what draws me to them and keeps me there. With distinct personalities like the swotty Seohyun, dorky Taeyeon, straightforward Hyoyeon, childish Yoona, muddle-head Jessica, cute Sunny, genuine Yuri, animated Sooyoung and tenacious Tiffany, we were able to see ourselves in those characters and along with their eventual evolution — our eventual evolution.

letaengbutt’s Photos:

I found this new concept to be very intriguing and different from when I first found out about Girls’ Generation during their “Gee” era. “Gee” was a little too cute for my taste, so I didn’t exactly become “Soshified” by that. However, “Genie” was absolutely fantastic and it’s still my most played song on iTunes. The girls were sexy without overdoing it and honestly, who wouldn’t fall in love with them?

MoonSoshi9′s Photos:

I only discovered Girls’ Generation when “Hoot” came out. I had never heard of K-pop. I listened to rock music, so you can imagine my surprise when I watched a music video with nine girls singing and shooting arrows at me. Needless to say, I was shocked and confused…and maybe a bit intrigued. When I saw this picture of the nine members of Girls’ Generation, I couldn’t keep them out of my mind. To me, it looked like nine close friends together recording their memories with a fun photograph. As I later found out after seeing more and more of their videos, that is exactly what they are – nine close friends who are doing what they love. While I’ve gone on to enjoy the rest of Girls’ Generation’s songs and concepts, “Hoot” will always be special for helping me become “Soshified”.

As previously reported, Girls’ Generation’s Sunny will take part as a voice actor for the upcoming animated film “Koala Kid”, and details of a recording session for the film have recently been released. Sunny was said to have been nervous before the recording of her voice for the character “Miranda”, but once the recording began she showed proficient acting skills and professionalism. In addition, the official Facebook page for “Koala Kid” also posted several photos of Sunny and SHINee’s Taemin recording their voices for the film. In the photos, Sunny and label-mate Taemin can be seen standing in front of a microphone and reading from movie’s script. A separate photo was also released with Sunny posing next to her character. Yoona Discusses the Pressure of Playing Two Characters in ‘Love Rain’

Yoona Discusses the Pressure of Playing Two Characters in 'Love Rain'

20111213_1323763212_36607100_1

Girls’ Generation’s Yoona talked about the pressure of performing double roles in the upcoming drama “Love Rain”.

During a press conference for “Love Rain” held on December 13th, Yoona started by saying, “I had the sudden urge to start acting again because I hadn’t played a role after the daily drama two years ago. At the same time, I had a chance to read the synopsis for ‘Love Rain’ and I really wanted to do this one.”

Yoona will be playing a double role in the drama, acting as “Kim Hana” in the year 2012 and “Kim Yoohee” in the 1970s. She said, “But when I read the script for the first time I had trouble deciding which character to focus on, Kim Hana or Kim Yoohee. I heard that Kim Hana is a lot like my actual personality so I didn’t worry too much. I was worried, however, about playing Kim Yoonhee from the 1970′s. I don’t know much about the 1970′s and I don’t have that much acting experience either.”

However, she continued by explaining that Director Yoon Seokho’s guidance helped her learn a lot and showed her confidence by saying, “We are currently near the end of the filming for the 1970′s, and surprisingly, all the things I worried about are going well.”

“Love Rain” is expected to air in March or April of 2012 at the earliest.

According to the website, the “Special Album” will feature all the various remixes of “The Boys” from the maxi-single, and it will also contain a few songs from the third Korean album.

Girls’ Generation Enters Year-End Billboard Japan Hot 100 Chart

Girls' Generation Enters Year-End Billboard Japan Hot 100 Chart

SNSD [Mr. Taxi - Deluxe Edition]

With 2011 coming to a close, Billboard has revealed its 2011 Year-end Charts. On the Japan Hot 100 chart, seven spots have been taken up by four different K-pop groups: KARA, Girls’ Generation, T-ara and TVXQ. Japanese idol group, AKB48, topped this chart with “Everyday Katchusha” and “Flying Get” in first and second place respectively. Girls’ Generation charted at 11th place with their song “Mr. Taxi”. “Gee” also found a spot in this chart at number 23.

Girls’ Generation has been receiving lots of positive feedback from overseas fans, especially in Japan. After having several successful, sold-our arena tours, they have been invited to multiple prestigious year-end events such as the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Since their single, “Mr. Taxi”, was so well received in Japan, a Korean version was later produced and released. It is the feature song on Girls’ Generation’s third repackage album, which has already been released in Korea. The repackage of the First Japan Album will go on sale December 20th.
