[04.27.11] Girls' Generation Japanese Activities News Wrap

A flurry of news broke today relating to Girls' Generation and their activities in Japan:


Girls' Generation's 1st Japanese Concert Tour - Revised Tour Dates

Originally, the girls were going to visit four cities in Japan and hold seven concerts in total, with the first taking place on May 18, 2011. After the recent earthquakes in Japan, the concert tour was postponed and fans were awaiting full details about when the concerts would eventually take place. With today's announcement of the revised tour dates, fans not only discovered when the original concerts got postponed to, but that the total number of concerts increased. The tour will now consist of ten concerts in six Japanese cities, starting on May 31:

Osaka - Osaka Castle Hall
- Tuesday, May 31 at 6:30 pm (originally scheduled for 5/24)
- Wednesday, June 1 at 6:30 pm (originally schedule for 5/25)
- Arena capacity: Up to 16,000

SM Town Live Tokyo

The next big story of the day is the announcement of the postponed date for the SM Town Live concert in Tokyo. The two-day concert was originally scheduled for April 9th and 10th at the Tokyo Dome, but was postponed indefinitely after the earthquakes in Japan. Today, SM Entertainment announced that the concert will take place on September 3rd and 4th at the Tokyo Dome. With a total seating capacity of 50,000 for the Tokyo Dome, SM Entertainment is expecting that the excitement generated by the chance to see all of the SM Town performers will lead to a total two-day attendance figure of 100,000 fans.


Girls' Generation's Japanese Website Updated With 'MR. TAXI' Theme

The official Japanese website of Girls' Generation was updated earlier today with a new theme reflecting the 'MR. TAXI/Run Devil Run' single that has already been shipped to some fans. When the website is first opened, a cut of the Japanese 'Run Devil Run' music video is shown along with a cut from the 'MR. TAXI' music video. Once the full website opens, be sure to click on the gallery to view updated portraits of the girls in their 'MR. TAXI' outfits.


'MR. TAXI' Leads Ringtone Chart, MV Generates Explosive Number of Views

On the first day of its release to the public, the full version of 'MR. TAXI' topped the Recochoku Daily Chart for Chaku-Uta Full, which tracks cell phone ringtone downloads through Recochoku, one of the largest ringtone purchasing sites in Japan. Also, the short ringtone version of 'MR. TAXI' placed ninth on the Recochoku Daily Chart for Chaku-Uta Short. In addition to the soaring popularity on the ringtone download charts, the recently released 'MR. TAXI' Dance MV has generated a hot response, with the number of views exploding to over 720,000 in just one day on the official Universal Music Japan YouTube page at the time this article was written.
